1. 1,4-Butanediol is used to produce tetrahydrofuran and polybutylene terephthalate.
2. 1,4-Butanediol is used as chain extender and polyester raw material to produce polyurethane elastomer and soft polyurethane foam.
3. Esters prepared from 1,4-butanediol are good plasticizers for cellulose, polyvinyl chloride, polyacrylate and polyester.
4. 1,4-Butanediol has good hygroscopicity and flexibility, and can be used as gelatin softener and water absorbent, and as a treatment agent for cellophane and other unused paper.
